Hey all, not sure if this has already been mentioned here but...
If you open up your iTunes store you will notice they added iTunes U. It has loads of university lectures and presentations. Some of these focus on weight/nutrition and exercise. Now there will be good and bad ones on there but I figured it may help someone here.
Happy listening

And I really should stop counting the days now. Still haven't managed to get below 16 stone.
I dusted off the WII fit on Monday, went for a run and then an our of yoga/stretching on the WII. I've been running for the last 6 months and can crack off 10k at a push but an hour of WII has me achy the next day which can only be good.

Morning all,
It's been a while and I'm happily making my way through the world of food. Here are my findings so far.
I love food, I love food more than I love alcohol and so I have stopped drinking. The reason for this is two fold.
1 - I like food more than drink so if I am going to limit my calories then it makes sense to enjoy the ones I have.
2 - Drinking requires food for hangover cures (and all o...

One whole year since I started the LL journey.

I've lost count, I know 16th october will be one year!
So, two weeks in Paris with a weekend in Madrid for good measure. Lots of entertaining, lots of meals out, lots of self control equals a two pound loss.
Granted that is a couple of days work on LL but I feel very proud to have done this back in the real world.
That's all for today.

Isn't it odd that I still see myself as on LL even though I have been on solids for weeks now? Maybe because I have some shakes in the cupboard, maybe because I am resigned to the fact this is a lifeling choice.

Progress, is slow but just as rewarding. Last week saw a 6k run around London, an 18k walk to the Palace and back and a 10k walk to the cinema and back. Also popped a cheeky 5k walk in on Sunday. That has equated to 5lbs loss since setting the target of 30lbs in 100 days.

What the hell. How can I run 10k and be keeping things on track and have put on 2lbs in a day. In the last 54 days I have gained 19lbs. That needs to change.

Well, what a six days. Friday I left Montpellier and flew in to London, took the train across to Essex and met the OH. In true Top Gear challenge style I left Montpellier at the same time she left Bristol and we arrived at the very same time! I've spent the afternoon reading my old blogs, obviously whilst working very very hard (shoegirl). I found this one from earlier in the year when I was fed up, hated LL and thought RTM was the only way forward. You can tell from the language I was so far away from the right mindset for RTM:
"And at that weigh in I am going to go on to RTM. I'm not even out of obese BMI! I have lost 5 stone, have go...

Last night I popped off another 10km run, in record time of exactly one hour, followed by an hour of cricket nets. Hopefully there will be a significant movement at this week weigh in.

And a mini triumph.
This morning saw 15 stone 12 lbs on the scales, a minro miracle and a massive relief. I broke through 16 stone in February and tried to get on to RTM, this didnt really work out for me, I could keep at that weight but not get down.
So I've broken through the 15 stone barrier, next stop 15'10 (under 100kg) then 15'8 (6 stone lost) and then below 15 stone. Who knows from there.

Well, what a grest weekend. I spent Friday night with friends a their place in Devon, they went off to the local for supper and I sat in the hot tub on a two hour conference call. Then an early morning flight to Amsterdam. Lots of walking around and a trip to Fifteen, four courses, five hours of sitting and chatting and it was all fantastic.

Another day another drop. This morning I am 16 stone 0 lbs and 4oz. That's a bitten nail away from 15 stone something, a new low and aa step closer to the target.
Had a deep tissue massage this morning and the back is slowly getting better. I have a night in a cabin with a hot tub and am off to Amsterdam in the morning. A bit of walking and sight seeing and it should all be fine.

And still on target. 76lbs lost and 30 to go. Last night when I eventually left the office I was so hungry, with every service station I moved in to the inside lane ready to drop in and grab some food. However, knowing that they only serve rubbish and that I am on the straight and narrow, I managed to drive past all of them.

Day 190, back to 75lbs lost and all on track. Have spent the day locked in a room of 12 people talking technical stuff. At lunchtime they dragged in the buffet which stayed in the room all afternoon. Why do they do that?
Glad to say I didn't touch it.

Well after having my spine manipulated, accupucture and some deep tissue massage my back is still in spasm. A night of pain and little sleep.
On the upside I am not thinking about abstinence.

how getting made you feel. There was only one thing for it yesterday, work through it. So, lawned mowed, hedges trimmed, 3 cars cleaned inside and out, motorbike cleaned, polished and slightly repaired. Fridge offloaded to random passerby and delivered, garage cleaned and supper made for the family.

So, no change in weight this morning, I'm fine with that. The weeks total is looking OK. Have a challenge with a friend of the OH to drop 10lbs by May 11th. Winner gets to take the OH out. Seems like the OH wins either way.
Yesterday I said I was taking the motorbike to work. And that is exactly what I did this morning. I found out two interesting things.

Almost certainly in full ketosis, have all the tell tale signs and a 2lbs overnight loss. Had intended to do some exercise yesterday but a combination of ketosis effects, tiredness from the weekend and pain in my back/achilles put me off. I'll make that up this evening though.

Day 183, which could be the end of RTM week 6 but is in fact day two of my second spell of abstinence. Yesterday went well, no side effects but very much living off the built up calories from the weekend. Weight had slid from 16'3 to 16'11 after the Bank holiday. I had previously managed 16 stone dead.

It was simple. Get below obese then switch to RTM and drop a pound or so a week. No problem. And it was going well tell, until I got cocky and decided I could run the BBQ this weekend. 150 sausages/100 burgers, wine and although I didn't go as crazy as I would have pre LL I certainly did have control.
The result, about 9lbs on. I've already discussed how I am struggling to get past the 16 stone mar...

Week five of RTM and I am still hovering around 16 stone. I'v emade 16 dead, I've been at 16 stone 4lbs, can I get below, no I cannot. Even running 35k in a week has not helped. So this morning at 16stone 3 I have been for a 4k run and a 2k row. I've limited my calories and removed the fruit. So porridge, bar, chicken and salad and lots of water. I'm on negative calories. So, it was, and it is going well. I got to 16st 1lb, and he target for this week was to hit under 16st (Wednesday). Then I went for a weekend in Dorset and forgot packs. I did OK, and put on a could of pounds. But the news here is I'm not stressing. 2lbs, so what, a good run and a return to some sensible eating for a frew days will clear that. In fact the first measure was 7lb, 5 of those dropped ...

A valuable lesson learned this week. Weigh in showed 4lbs off, weigh in on home scale showed a different story. First three days and I dropped 5lbs on the home scales, this morning I had put two back on. The reason? I got complaicant, I sat in the car on my journey home and nibbled at food, not too much but enough and the wrong types, on three journeys.

A mixed weekend. I haven't had a weigh in for two weeks and won't get one this week. However, judging by my scales I reckon I will hit close to three stone for the 8 week period. The start of LL coincided with several things. First, the knowledge that I will be out of work next week in a job market that is far from bouyant. I have been freelance for nearly 20 years and have never had to look so hard for the next job. This in itself brings a lot of worry, those mortgages won't pay themselves and I hate the idea of the OH having to work her backside off to pay the bills.

So I arrived last night convinced, as usual, that I wouldn't have seen a change. Low and behold a further 4lbs have disappeared. I am amazed as I haven't moved at all this week and I certainly haven't drank enough water.
So, week 4 will include some exercise and an effort to drink water. 4 more lbs to the two stone mark.
